About us

This place was created from a love for Connemara — its wild landscapes, its people, its stories, and the unique sense of belonging that can be found here. Our wish is to create more than just a place to stay; we want to offer a warm and genuine fáilte (welcome) where guests can experience the true spirit of this very special part of Ireland.

Located in the heart of the Gaeltacht, we are surrounded by a living tradition of Irish language and culture. The Irish language, or Gaeilge, is an important part of the identity of this area, and we feel privileged to be part of a community where it continues to be spoken, shared, and celebrated. Through this B&B, we hope to honour and preserve the traditions, stories, music, and way of life that have shaped Connemara for generations.

The house itself reflects our love for this place. Carefully renovated and lovingly restored, it combines comfort and modern touches with the warmth and character of an old Connemara home. Every detail has been chosen to create a space where people can relax, connect, and feel at home — a place to enjoy good food, good conversations, and the simple pleasures of life.

What makes this place truly special is the connection between nature, culture, and hospitality. In the colder months, guests can return from a day of exploring to the warmth of the fireplace, while summer evenings are made for outdoor gatherings, BBQs, and enjoying the long evenings that Connemara offers.

With Lough Mask and Lough Corrib nearby, the area is a paradise for those who love the outdoors. Whether you enjoy hiking through the mountains and countryside, cycling quiet roads, fishing on the lakes, swimming in fresh waters, or simply taking time to slow down and enjoy the scenery, there is always something waiting to be discovered.

Above all, we hope this becomes a place where guests feel a true céad míle fáilte — a hundred thousand welcomes. A place to experience the beauty of Connemara, share stories, enjoy wonderful food, and leave with memories of a truly special corner of Ireland.

FAQ

1. What will my room be like

Our rooms are designed to be comfortable, cosy, and welcoming — a peaceful place to relax after a day of exploring Connemara.

We have two guest bedrooms available. One room has its own private ensuite bathroom and is suitable for up to two guests. It is equipped with a comfortable double bed, fresh bed linen, towels, and a small coffee and tea station so you can enjoy a quiet cup whenever you like. A welcome snack will also be waiting for you on arrival.

Our second bedroom is also suitable for up to two guests and has access to a shared bathroom with a bathtub. This bathroom is normally reserved for guests only and is generally used as a guest bathroom when there are visitors in the house. The room also includes fresh linen, towels, and coffee and tea-making facilities, along with a welcome snack.

Both rooms are ideal for couples or solo travellers. The ensuite room can also accommodate a baby if needed — please let us know in advance and we will do our best to make your stay comfortable.

If you are travelling as a family, with friends, or as a group of more than two people, the two rooms can be booked together. They are located directly opposite each other across the hallway, making them a convenient and comfortable option for families with children or small groups travelling together.

Breakfast and dinner are not included in the room rate, but we are always happy to provide delicious homemade meals by request. Please let us know in advance if you would like to enjoy breakfast or an evening meal during your stay.

2. What can i expect for breakfast?

Breakfast is an important part of the experience here — a chance to start the day slowly, enjoy good food, and prepare for whatever adventures Connemara has in store.

Our usual breakfast is a fresh continental-style buffet with homemade touches. You can enjoy freshly baked bread, a selection of cold cuts and cheeses, seasonal fruit, yoghurt, and other carefully chosen treats. Everything is prepared with care, and we love creating simple, delicious food using fresh ingredients.

Depending on availability and request, we may also be able to offer a cooked breakfast, including traditional favourites such as a full Irish breakfast, as well as vegetarian options.

We are happy to cater for a variety of dietary requirements and food preferences. Whether you are vegan, gluten intolerant, vegetarian, or have other allergies or special requests, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to make sure you have a breakfast that is both enjoyable and suitable for you.

For us, breakfast is not just about the food — it is about a warm welcome, a good conversation, and sending you out for the day feeling well looked after and ready to explore Connemara.

3. How do i get to the B&B

Our B&B is located in Cloghbrack, in the heart of beautiful Connemara, surrounded by countryside, lakes, and stunning views. The journey here is part of the experience — as you leave the busier roads behind, you'll find yourself travelling through some of Ireland's most scenic landscapes.

From Galway City, the B&B is approximately a one-hour drive away. From Clifden, the heart of Connemara, it is also around a one-hour drive. Galway and Clifden are both great places to visit during your stay and are easily reached by car.

A car is strongly recommended when staying with us, as public transport in this rural area is limited and many of Connemara's most beautiful places are best explored at your own pace. That said, the area is also wonderful for cycling, with quiet roads, incredible scenery, and plenty of opportunities to explore on two wheels.

The nearest airport is Ireland West Airport Knock, which is approximately 40 minutes away by car. Galway City is around one hour away, while Dublin is approximately a three-hour drive directly to us.

If you are travelling without a car, please get in touch before booking. Depending on availability, we may be able to help arrange a pick-up or drop-off service from Galway City or Knock Airport.

Once you arrive, you'll have the perfect base to slow down, explore, and experience the beauty of Connemara at your own pace.
